My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is a 2 -year-old spayed female yellow lab. Lucy weighs 50 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

NOTE ON CATS: Both homes said she tried to chase cats to play with them, some cats may not appreciate it while others may be fine with it; any adopter with cats will have to ensure safe, slow introductions.

Lucy is from a suburban area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

Aug 16, 2017: Lucy was returned because her adopter thought she was disrespectful to him by jumping up on him and other family members, although she listened very well to her trainer. She will need to continue with her training and being a young lab, will need lots of interactive exercise to tire out her mind and body. She does know her basic commands and is house- and crate-trained. She does still find things to chew when bored, so she will need to be watched. She desperately wants to play with other dogs, so she might be a candidate for a couple days of doggie day care each week. We did find out that Lucy does like the water and spent time sitting on the steps of the pool; she wasn't much of a retriever, but she wasn't afforded much, if any, interactive exercise.

Mar 4, 2017:Emma is a very nice dog and with some more training she will be a great one. Will chase a ball and bring it back once in a while. She is a very sweet dog and will make some lucky family a super companion. She is house trained and will go stand by the door to go out. She was allowed on furniture and slept on the couch. She needs to be watched when alone as she still likes to chew on some things mostly paper inside and branches and pieces of wood outside. She is pretty good at un-stuffing stuffed animals. She would love a home with a yard so she can run and stretch her legs while she plays. Needs fence either physical or underground.

Kids 10 and up as we don't have history Good with other dogs lived with another lab, has been out with other LR pups at the kennel with no problems. Lived with 3 but would chase trying to play with them, Would only recommend for dog smart cat. Knows sit, come and down. Takes treats gently. Will have a training Addendum. Pulls a little on lead a little when walking better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate and house trained.
