Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This little girl found herself a stray, in rural South Carolina. She was lonely and hungry, and animal control caught her in a trap. Within days of being trapped and taken to the local shelter, Dani gave birth to a litter of beautiful little puppies all alone, which shocked people, as she was no more than a puppy herself!. We were contacted to save this sweet family, which we did not hesitate to do. All of Dani's babies have been adopted, and now she wants her chance at a forever home! Dani is about 18 months old. A lot of people have asked us what she is mixed with so we took a guess, but truly she is a Heinz 57 blend and we do not guarantee any breed mix/combo whatsoever!
Dani was scared and unsocialized when she came into foster care. With much patience, her foster family has allowed her to come out of her shell on her own sweet time. She has transformed into an incredibly playful, cuddly, loving dog who must be touching, leaning against, or curled up with one of her people all the time. She currently sleeps with the foster’s teenage daughter curled up next to her pillow with Dani’s head resting on her chest or arm. Dani loves to play! She will chase, wrestle, tag, and do the zoomies all day, but will sleep peacefully all night and at nap time. She loves playing with her foster doggie siblings, chasing squirrels, squeaking stuffed dog toys, and can chew on nylabones forever.
Dani was fearful of a leash, but now runs for the leash when she hears the jingle. She loves, loves, loves walks, and has even gone for jogs with the foster’s teenage daughter. She loves car rides, and has learned basic commands. Dani is still fearful of meeting new people and dogs. The foster has been using positive reinforcement training and makes little steps of progress every day. We are looking for a committed adopter who has experience with dogs, and will commit time to training so she continues her transformation. Dani would do best in a home with another confident, active dog that loves to play. Dani gets confidence from a doggie companion, and we have seen that this helps her around strangers and other dogs.
Dani has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative, is up to date on all vaccines, is spayed, microchipped, and on current heartworm prevention and flea prevention. She weighs about 40 lbs. and is full grown.
