My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Baxter is an adorable 8 year old, 12 lb. Chihuahua/terrier mix. He was rescued from a shelter in Orange County when he was 2 years old. He was afraid of men then - who knows what happened to him in his first two years of life? Over time Baxter's fears lessened and he became a loving, happy family dog, even when the baby arrived.

But babies grow into toddlers who tend to get in little dogs' faces. This is something that makes Baxter very nervous. Unfortunately, his owners realize they must find him a new home without small children.

Baxter is a great little guy. He's house trained and crate trained. He knows sit and down. He is loyal and only asks for love and respect for his space in return. He is very food motivated and will do whatever it takes to earn a treat. Baxter is up to date on vaccinations and in good health.

What is the perfect environment for Baxter? Probably an all adult home or one with older children. He does well with women and children when he is given time to warm up, it may take longer with men. He is interested in cats but is afraid of them.
