1/5/09 "Good news! Lady and Tramp are NOT shy! They slept almost the whole way home, only standing up 2 or 3 times to touch our hand and go back and lay down. All went great meeting our dogs. Lady was a bit defensive at first but she settled down quite nicely. I had them on leashes sitting on dog beds beside me last night by the tv. This morning both dogs have almost learned how to use the dog door and have freely used the back yard and area off the dog door. The two of them are having a few dominance issues between them which could be the stress they are under, but I'll monitor it closely. There haven't been any problems with our dogs regarding dominance.
I just came in from our second time running around in the back yard. We have about an acre fenced, with woods and a teeny, frozen over frog pond, so there is plenty of interesting stuff. Both Lady and Tramp are real runners,I think all they need are groceries and rules. They are both really friendly and curious. Today, we start some clicker training. I'll teach them their names and basic commands while they are here. They are already learning to wait at an open door instead of running out. They are both eating really well. Both dogs are really interested in people and respond really well. I think it's whippet in them instead of greyhound, that's just my thought. Tramp is SO small and light checking out his frame. Tramp seems like he'll be a real cuddler and is more interested in people. Anyhow, they are both going to really make nice pets. "
1/4/09 We have finally been able to bring Lady and Tramp north to New England. He came off the transport shy but very sweet and way too skinny. They have gone to a fantastic foster home with SIX furry foster siblings! Stay tuned for more info as they get to know him and get some good meals into him. These sweeties are smaller than we thought and ready to be loved and socialize with their new pals.
11/18/08: URGENT!! Poor Lady and Tramp have been living in cages at the vet's office for several months. They are approximately 1 year old. They both were found under a house that had burned due to a fire. They were taken to the vet's office and amazingly, they both made it through the ordeal with no physical problems.
Tramp is shy but not as timid as his sister, Lady. He needs a foster or adoptive home immediately to begin learning that noises and other unfamiliar sounds are ok. He is such a kind soul; look at those eyes! These two have been separated for a while so they do not need to go to a new home together but it would be nice if they could go home for the holidays!
Tramp is in our partner shelter in the south and he desperately needs to get out of the cage he is in. Please consider being his foster or forever family so he can learn that life can be good.
