My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi. My name is Sammy (Sad Sam if you want to be formal). My little sister, Lola, and I have been with our family since we were just little pups. Our birthday is November 17th and this year we will be 6 years old. They have been a great family for us and love us so very much.

But, all kinds of things have happened lately and now we have to find a new family. We moved away from the nice big house that we used to live in about a year ago and Dad doesn’t live with us anymore. Mom is sick now with something that isn’t going to go away and has to move to my Grandma’s. Dad now lives in a little apartment and my Boy is almost a grown up and hasn’t decided if he’s going to live with Dad or Mom or by himself. So, Mom and I think it might be better for us if Lola and I find a new family. Sure, we’ll all miss each other, but I’m trying to be a big boy about this.

Let me tell you about me. Mom likes to start our story by saying, “Momma was a Beagle and Daddy was a Foxhound.” I take after our dad; I’m a big guy – the biggest beagle you will ever see! (Ok, so I’m more like a foxhound, but it’s so much fun to say that I’m the world’s biggest beagle.) I weigh about 75 pounds and I’m 24 inches tall at my shoulders. I’m a mellow soul and will be your best friend forever. I love everyone – even the cat that lives with us. I haven’t been around little kids too much, but they sure look like lots of fun, but I’m such a big guy that Mom always stays close by if there are little kids so I don’t knock them over.

I’m a funny dog too – I will entertain myself (and anyone that wants to be my audience) by stirring my food before I eat it and then carrying a few kibbles off to hide for dessert. I’ll also toss my toys around and try to get them to play too. Oh, and if I happen to rub against something, I have to try to get it to scratch my back, it just feels sooo good! Everyone just laughs and laughs and then when they try to scratch my back for me, I start to laugh and wiggle because it tickles!

I don’t like to have my feet played with or to go to the bathroom anywhere other than my own yard, and I really don’t understand that box on wheels that Mom uses to get places – I feel funny and drool a lot when I’m in it and it’s moving. But other than that stuff I’m really a blast!
