My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there. My name is Rosebud, but I have always been called Rosie, or Ro Ro for my nickname. There is a puppy on the website named Rosebud also and we don’t want people to get us confused.

Let me get comfortable on this couch and tell you a little about myself. I spent the beginning of my life in a puppy mill. But the great folks at BREW took me and put me in what they call a foster home. And you should see all the neat things here. Have you ever heard of a couch or a bed? Wow, those things are so comfy to lie on, you should try it. And the couch has these really soft items called blankets on it to curl up in.

Did you know that beagles are allowed to run outside in the yard? We have a fenced in yard here and I love to go out with my foster sisters and run around. Foster daddy is putting me out on a tie-out also, in case my new home doesn’t have a fenced yard. I don’t mind that, but I am still unsure about it.

Speaking of my foster sisters, they have taught me a lot. They have shown me the routines of the house, like when we are supposed to go outside. Which, foster daddy says, I have done really well with my house training. His one tip is that when I first get up in the morning, or if I get up during the night, you need to put me outside right away.

My foster sisters and I love mealtime. We all do a happy little food dance when foster daddy gets the food bowls out. He feeds us all in the same area and we don’t have any problems. I also know what the treat jar is and run into the kitchen when foster daddy gets it out of the cupboard.

I am also learning what toys are. They are fun to chew on, almost as much fun as a towel, blanket, and shoestrings…whoops, maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that fact. Foster daddy says I do have a puppy mouth, so the house will definitely need to be puppy proofed to start, even though I am not a puppy.

We are working on my walking on a leash. I do alright, but still need some practice. We have gone for some rides in the car to the dog park. I do not jump around, but I do get nervous being in the car and will sit and pant for a lot of the ride. I stay in my crate during the day, and let foster mommy put me in there in the morning with no fuss. I do get very excited when someone comes home though, and can’t wait to get out.

I do like people and getting attention after I get to know you. I LOVE my belly to be rubbed. BUT I still get nervous about new people and in new situations. I will hide behind the chair or under the table if I get nervous, or I am unsure of what is going on, but if you go to pick me up I will let you do so, and not run away.

My needs in a family are the following. One with a lot of patience to help me become comfortable in my new home, and to help me learn that all they want to do is love me. Kids would be fine. I adored the kids in the first foster home I was in. Another dog in the house would be the best situation, and foster daddy highly recommends it. This would give me a companion to show me the ropes in my new home, and a pal I can bond with, and who will help me gain confidence in my new surroundings. And because of my nervousness, my new family will also need to be extra cautious with my safety so I don’t get spooked and accidentally escape.

Oh yeah, most important, my new home needs to have one of those couch things. If you don’t have one, maybe my foster family will let me take the one from here with me. I use it more then anyone else in the house anyways.

So if you are willing to help me grow into the great and wonderful beagle that my foster family knows I will become, please call BREW and ask about me.
