Layla is a 5-year- old either pure-bred Boxer, or Boxer mix (she is possibly mixed with American Bulldog) who melted the heart of her foster mom when she saw her at the shelter. She weighs approximately 75 lbs. Layla was turned into the shelter by her family, who decided that having a human baby trumped keeping Layla. Confused by the sudden change and loss of her family, Layla became very depressed in the shelter. After being in the shelter for a year and losing a tremendous amount of weight, she would just lay in the dirt completely shut down. Fortunately for Layla, her foster mom saw what a wonderful dog Layla could be and pulled her from the shelter and brought her to her boarding kennel to help her find her forever home.

Since Layla was sprung from the shelter, she has gained weight and is a beautiful girl that has become more balanced. Sometimes she can be a bit shy at first, but once she trusts you, be prepared to be overloaded with love and kisses. Layla has completed full obedience training, is crate-trained, and knows how to use the dog door. Her favorite things are sun-bathing, playing fetch, and chasing any critter that will run. Layla would make a great running/hiking partner and has a perfect pace. She is always ready to jump in the car to go out for an adventure.

The home we are seeking for Layla is one with an owner who is experienced with large dog breeds. She would do best with a confident leader. On walks, Layla does wonderfully on leash; however, she needs to feel that she can trust her human to be balanced enough to handle any situation or she will become protective. If she thinks you are weak and cannot protect her, she will be happy to lunge at a dog to keep you safe.

Layla is a great girl and her exuberant personality definitely shines through. She has the true boxer happy, ready to go personality. If you are looking for a big, bold, beautiful girl to go on adventures and lounge around the house with you, we would love to hear from you.
