My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey, everybody! L’il Tucker here. I was recently surrendered to Forsyth County Animal Shelter with my other four-legged friend, who was adopted right away. That left me alone and scared out of my wits, especially around men. The shelter manager saw something special in me, though, and took me into her office, where I calmed down a lot … and fell in love with her. I didn’t even mind the shelter kitty walking around — and I’ve heard they’re supposed to be “our” enemies. She knew I needed a special rescue, so she reached out to GA JRT, hoping to get me some help … and here I am!

I’ve been here a couple of weeks and have settled in nicely enough to “put me out there” for foster or adoption. I’m not scared anymore. In fact, I’m getting quite confident and love rough-housing with the other dogs. Snoopy and I have put in a few miles together! I’m no longer scared “around” men and love getting scratches and attention from them, but I still get hesitant when they try to pick me up or hold me. Papa Mike and the other guys are working with me on that trust factor. It will just take patience and time.

My owners said I was four years old, but there was a language barrier at surrender. My traits and vet say I’m younger (maybe around two), and I still have a lot of puppy energy. I’m heartworm-negative, healthy as a little horse, and ready to roll. As you can see from my photos, I’m a beautiful broken-coat JRT—with a beautiful tail. I would do fine in a home with other dogs. I’m neither dominant nor submissive; just love to play. If there’s a man in the house, that’s OK now, but he would need to be patient and understand I have some fears to work through. I was allegedly in a home with children, so I could possibly do OK with them. We would need to meet first to make sure.
