My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Butch is a10-year-old neutered male black lab. Butch weighs 77 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fence: No requirement

NOTE: Butch will do best in a home with carpeted floors or carpet runners. He will do best in a home with fewer stairs.

Sep 30, 2017: Butch is an 11 year old sweet senior. This happy boy loves to play with his squeaky ball, loves belly rubs, and loves to take walks. He is also happy to just chill on his bed. He does not get on furniture at all. He does best in a home with few stairs and with carpet, or strategically-placed runners on wood floors. Butch is such an easy going boy. Give him a chance!

Aug 21, 2017: Butch is a gentle giant with a very sweet personality. He is a great walker, and loves playing with tennis balls, especially the squeaky kong! He will give you the softest kisses when he's ready. He takes his meds nicely. He does not get on furniture at all. He does best in a one-level carpeted home with only a few stairs. Butch is such a good boy, and very quiet unless you sing to him. He like to show you that he can sing too!

July 22, 2017: Butch is such a sweet gentleman. He enjoys tennis balls (especially his squeaky kong) and being with his humans. He's very good on a lead, does well on walks, and is amazingly calm. June 28, 2017: Butch is an 11 year old black neutered male. He is housetrained and hasn't touched anything in the house other than dog toys. It takes him a while to warm up to new people, he just stays away, but once he does he is in love. He does however enjoy company with little people and really comes to life quickly in their presence. Butch definitely isn't comfortable on hardwood floors. He will do stairs, but it takes him a long time, and I try to keep him only doing the stairs once a day to not aggravate his arthritis.
Butch loves tennis balls. It is so cute, when he brings it back to you, he will put it on the ground and push it back to you so you can throw it for him again. Butch doesn't need to be crated and has had free roam.

May 29, 2017: Butch was returned because the pre-schoolers played just a little too hard with him. We have increased the approved age for children out of consideration for his arthritis.

Mar 27, 2017: Butch is a strikingly handsome and spry guy looking for an amazing family to show him the golden years. Butch is very affectionate and fits the term lap dog, he really doesn't know his size! He loves ear rubs and likes to give kisses. He enjoys trips to the dog parks and likes to retrieve and swim. He is house trained and crate trained but hasn't used the crate in some time and doesn't need it. He walks well on leash but is very social and loves to say hi to other dogs. He knows basic commands. He is great with other dogs. No cat history so he is unknown with cats.

From foster: Butch appears to be a true couch potato in all sense of the term. So far he can do the 3 steps onto the back porch. He takes pills easily with peanut butter. I walked him on a flat collar without a problem, and he had no reaction to a squirrel.
