My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blake is a 2-year-old neutered male black lab. Blake weighs 31 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Needs fence either physical or underground.

Blake is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

Sep 9, 2017: Blake is a little shy when he first meets you but think most of it is he has moved several times recently. He wants to be with you and get petted and have his belly rubbed. Blake is fun to be with and likes to play once he gets to know you. He is a smaller pup ideal weight is about 40 lbs. He is treat oriented so should learn easily. He would love a family that will give him lots of love and attention.
Kids 10 and up as we have no history. Good with other dogs, had him out yesterday with another smaller pups and he did well. He was out with several at the shelter and had no problems. No cat history. Knows sit, down sometimes and come. Will have Training Addendum. Hasn't been on lead much, is good with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate trained. May be house trained as he is keeping his run clean at the kennel.

Shelter Rescue Coordinator says: He is a very friendly pup, is a little shy at first but warms up in a couple of minutes. The other day a couple of volunteers came in and walked him with a couple of other dogs then had them out to the play yard. They played all afternoon with no issues with any of the dogs.

Blake - 2 year old black neutered male. Up to date on vaccines. Neutered on 6 Sept has to take it easy until 20 Sept Will need Leptospirosis booster between 4 & 11 Oct. Weighs 31lbs. ideal is about 40 lbs. so needs to gain a few.
