My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barney came to us after the Stouffville Flea Market closed. They were all set to pull one of the barns down, but there was one problem... it appeared to be Barney's home.

So into a foster home he went, where he settled in to indoor life. We got him vaccinated and fixed and unfortunately found out that he has FIV.

FIV is feline aids. This can make cats more prone to colds, that tend to last longer than they would in the average cat. But FIV does not typically affect lifespan and most FIV cats can live a long and healthy life.

Barney is super sweet and affectionate, so there is little risk of him passing on the disease to other cats (it's transferred through bodily fluids like saliva) but we would prefer he goes as a single cat or to home with another FIV cat.
