Ralphie is Adopted
Ralphie is currently fostered in Willowick Ohio, and his adoption fee/donation is $250
Update 2-11-18 from new foster
Ralphie is such a fun boy! He loves playing with toys and loves attention!
His skin is healed, and fur has grown in except for a few spots which are scarred. Due to his skin condition, he will need weekly baths with special shampoo.
Ralphie moves to foster home in Willowick, where there are teenage children, a dog and 2 cats. Ralphie wears a belly band, and has not had any accidents. He is good on a leash. He is learning to take treats. He is crate trained but would rather be out of it!
He will make a wonderful addition to a home with older children, who will understand do's and dont's with him
Original Bio
Ralphie is a 8yr old male cocker spaniel with a full/natural tail.
He came to our rescue as a stray, who was pulled from Cleveland animal control.
When Ralphie was pulled from the shelter, he was a horrific mess!!
Definitely one of the worst cases of neglect we have seen!!!
His skin was so infected, he had no hair, and what looked like dried elephant skin.
There were areas of crust all over his belly, ad it took numerous baths to remove it all.
He had severely infected eyes and ears, small masses on his tail and ear, along with yeast all over his body.
When he went to the vet that same day, his skin was scraped immediately to check for mange, which was negative.
What was growing on his skin was e-coil bacteria, staff, and MRSA, all very bad bacteria’s, which are difficult to treat and will need many follow up skin treatments.
We have been working on his skin but he still has a long way to go.
Ralphie is amazingly well tempered, gentle and loving.
Even with his horrific skin conditions and all of the infections. he always is happy and friendly.
We have been working with him on house training, taking him outside often, and using a belly band when in the home.
He is such a good boy in so many ways, he gets along well with other animals, and greets everyone with a happy wagging full tail.
He still has a long road ahead of him, but he is feeling so much better already.
Ralphie has all of his vaccinations and is heart worm negative. He will be neutered prior to adoption.
We will begin accepting applications while he continues to heal.
