Risa's Story...
Risa is a petite lovely lass who has really come out of her shell! Originally quivering with fear for the first days in the shelter, Risa is now anything but fearful: she is exuberant and full of life. Her graceful gait, wispy body type (Whippet, Pointer or ? mix) and happy-go-lucky attitude make her a delightful walking companion. She is always excited to see other dogs, and seems to be begging them: "play with me, play with me!" Risa is still a puppy and will need someone to show her good puppy manners. Fortunately she is one smart cookie & ever-eager to please. If you have a dog and are interested in bringing another into your home, come by with him or her for an introduction to Risa. She is ever-so-earnestly waiting for her forever-family.

Act quickly to adopt Risa. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Risa, a Berkeley Whippet/American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Whippet/American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Whippet/American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Whippet/American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Whippet/American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
