Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Leo – male, vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, ~4yrs, ~14lbs, Poodle mix.
Leo’s owner left him at a vet clinic to euthanize Leo when moving to a condo that did not allow pets. Leo is now in the safely in a 4 Legged Love foster home. Leo arrived in our care some what neglected, he clearly had been groomed some months ago but has probably not been brushed or bathed since… He has dry skin either from the weather or poor diet. We are arranging for Leo to be “tidied up” by a groomer this week. We have had him vaccinated, Rabies included and he will be neutered at our vet this week before he is placed in a Forever Home.
We have very limited background on Leo at this time therefore we will not place him in a home with small children for this reason. He appears to be house trained and he is a really friendly little guy. He is good with other dogs, cats and would likely be fine with respectful children over the age of 8yrs. Leo walks nicely on a leash but doesn’t appear to know any formal commands, over all he is calm and well mannered, isn’t yappy and does not get on the furniture preferring to sit or lay at your feet. He doesn’t mind being picked up, held or cuddled and will happily sit on a lap when lifted up. Leo enjoys being in the same room as the people in the home and will whine or howl when he can not gain access to the people in the home. He has not barky when left alone from what we can tell but we prefer a house rather then an apartment home just in case. Leo is great in the car, loves short walks a few times a day and lots of positive kind words. He really is a sweet little guy and 4 Legged Love is very happy to have been able to rescue him from death, he is too cute for that kind of fate!
Leo has dry skin and is now on a premium dog food/bland diet (rice/boiled lean meat mix); we suspect the dry skin is due to neglect with his grooming and proper diet. He should remain on a good quality dry kibble – no canned, smoked salmon is a natural way help restore some natural oils to his skin and coat.
Leo would be great for a mature household that would like a loveable little companion. He is sweet as a button, good natured, calm and loving, he loves to be with people and doesn’t mind being with other dogs or cats. He would fit in to just about any household.
Leo will be groomed and neutered this week (week of Jan26-30th).
