I am already neutered, purebred, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.
Handsome Max is a cool little dude. He arrived at Tassie's Hope a portly fellow, but is on a diet to get him back to optimal weight. Max's story touched our hearts. His past is alarmingly common. Until very recently, Max had a family. The people he had always known and loved surrendered him to a Tarrant County animal shelter, because they couldn't afford to take care of him. We don't know the specifics of their situation, or if they had had Max since he was a puppy, but we found out about Max as his time was about to run out at the shelter. Max badly needed to have his teeth cleaned, but other than that, he checked out in excellent health at his vet visit. Max is now neutered, current on shots, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, on monthly heartworm preventative and once again has pearly white teeth. Our $175 adoption fee helps offset the cost of Max's veterinary care. Max is 6 to 8 years of age. Considering the average life span of a Rat Terrier is 15 to 18 years, Max has plenty of years left to enjoy. Max would love to have a home where he can put down roots, feel safe once again and have all his "ducks in a row". He is an easy-going guy, who gets along well with other dogs, probably would do fine around cats and just basically enjoys hanging out with his human family. Max doesn't care for a lot of rambunctiousness, so we think he is best-suited for an adult home, or maybe a home with adolescents and older. Max enjoys going for walks around the neighborhood and is well-behaved on car rides. If you're looking for a really terrific canine companion and would like to give Max a loving, forever home, we invite you to submit our adoption application today:
