Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bessie was found in -4 degree weather with a litter of puppies under a building. She was shivering, freezing and starving, but was determined to save her babies. Unfortunately, she didn't have enough body fat to keep them warm and all of the puppies were frozen and lifeless beneath her. When the animal control officers tried to get her out from under the building, she refused to leave her family behind, despite coaxing, offerings of food, and literally trying to pull her out. She would NOT leave her puppies. They had no choice but to retrieve all of the puppies and then she followed. They had to take the deceased puppies to the shelter along with Bessie to prevent her from having a heart attack from panic. Once in the shelter kennel, she realized that she had lost her little family and one by one she started nudging them away. She was then moved to a different kennel. She has been in a deep depression and has the saddest eyes you've ever seen.
There is no hope for a dog like this in shelters...she is older and they think she is deaf.....people want the cute spunky ones, not her. Well, we have news for them...CBR-West wants her! And we are honored that she "chose us" to help her start her new life. Bessie will make someone a great companion and she will be forever grateful for a warm bed, good food, and lots of loving to live out her golden years. She so deserves the good life. Can you provide that for her? If you are interested in adopting Bessie, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.cascaderescue.org/adoptapp_west.html). Bessie’s adoption fee is $200, which includes all vetting, vaccinations, microchip, and spay.
