It's likely that you've heard a lot of really good rescue stories - 4 legged fur babies, saved from the worst of the worst situations. They're healed, loved, and then, finally.. at home with their much deserved forever families, living a happy life. Petey's story is much like those except he is still on his journey. Petey was rescued from a life of living on a heavy chain, in a plastic garbage barrel, skinny and starving for both food and affection. But you would never know that if we hadn't just told you. Meeting this sweetheart is like we imagine it would feel to hug a giant living stuffed teddy bear. Petey knows no strangers - he loves everyone he meets. He is 2 years old and 76lbs of chubby, happy, charming and goofy LOVE. He LOVES people! Petey gets along great with other sweet dogs, and we are told by his foster parents that he ignores cats when they're around. He would do fine in a home with older kids (he is a big guy and might knock a little one over on accident). He is playful, charming, handsome and CUDDLY. He will sit for treats, walk with you for as long as you want (he needs a harness because he is a big fella), and loves a good car ride! This big lovebug is sure to make someone a wonderful life-long companion. And he so deserves a loving forever family. It's hard to say who would be happier, him or them? This dog will be ready to leave our care in time for CPR's Triple Event Weekend! First, CPR with be with North Shore Animal League on Friday, June 15th at PetValu, 100 Main Street North, Southbury, CT from 2pm-6pm. Then, CPR will be at PetSmart in Meriden, CT on Saturday, June 16th from 10am-2pm. Lastly, CPR will be at Cheshire Cat & Dog Too in Cheshire, CT on Sunday, June 17th from 10am-1pm. PRE-APPROVAL is REQUIRED to bring home a pup from SUNDAY'S event. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event. You can apply while you are there, but the application will not be processed the same day. Come meet our pups and find your forever friend!
The adoption fee is normally $425. As part of the Pittie-Palooza, you can choose your Adoption Donation (minimum of $260). This includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog has tested negative for heartworms.
If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between noon and 2 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
