Q's Info...

Q's Story...
Q is in foster care with one of our shelter workers and here's what she has to say about him: Q is one cool dog. He may be old, but that doesn't stop him! He's very playful and affectionate; he loves to cuddle with you. He only has one functional eye, so he has a little trouble with walking into stuff, and he often falls down stairs, although he has little difficulty going up them. He wants to be with you all the time, but he understands you need alone time too. He's a friendly guy to both other dogs and cats! He hasn't been in a house for a long time, so he needs a refresher course in housebreaking. He loves to share his toys and kisses with everyone!

All dogs at our shelter have been started on a vaccination program, de-wormed, treated with Revolution for fleas, spayed/neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee for a dog is $150. If you are a PA resident, you will also be required to purchase a dog license. There are 2 licensing options : annual licenses are $6.50 and are renewable every January. Lifetime licenses are $31.50 and never need to be renewed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Q, a Honesdale Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Honesdale, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Honesdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Honesdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Honesdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Honesdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
