My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Timmy. I am a short haired hound mix. I have a light brown chestnut color coat. I have crazy ears—one up and one down and a funny eye; it kind of looks like I’m always winking at you. Folks say this is part of my charm. I’ve been in the shelter for 7 months. During that time, a lot has happened. I was a little wild but over the past few months, the nice people at the shelter have been working with me. The trainers take me for regular walks on the wooded trail and I have become quite good on the leash. I have a very good sit and stay and I have a soft mouth. This means, I take things gently when offered to me, like treats and toys. Here’s the sad news: I was adopted twice and returned. This has been very frustrating for me and the staff here at the shelter. The big problem with me is that I am a sweet dog and people do seem to fall in love with me but what they don’t understand is that I am 1 ½ years old and packed with lots of high energy. I would do best in a home with someone who is very active and committed to sticking with a good training program that enforces the rules of good dog behavior. A home with a fenced in yard would be ideal but what is most important is that I get long walks and lots of activity. I love to play but I am really not suitable in a home with small children because I can be jumpy and I have a hard time controlling my excitement. I am a smart doggie and very eager to learn. Also, another thing you should know is I do not get along well with cats. I appear to get along with other dogs but prefer dogs that can handle my rough play. I’ve been told that I’m a “real character” and am hoping to find the perfect match. If you would like to meet me, please stop in the shelter. I am so anxious to have a new home.
