My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

More About Delta
Hi! My name is Delta and I am a super sweet senior beagle gal. I was brought to the Franklin County Humane Society as a stray and had some injuries from an attack by another dog. They took good care of me at the Humane Society and after I healed up I came to live with my foster mom and her beagle, Penny. I really like it here. My foster mom lets me lie on the couch and sleep in the bed with her and Penny. We go for lots of walks, which is great because I love to go outside and sniff. Foster mom thinks I was definitely someone's hunting dog because when you get me out in the woods I go crazy! You better keep your eye on me out in the yard too, because I will take off chasing a squirrel or on a scent in a heartbeat. My favorite things are rolling in the grass, chasing animals, eating treats, and lying next to you and being petted. Foster mom thinks I might not have been an indoor dog, because I wasn't housebroken when I came to live with her, but I have been learning and just have the occasional accident now. When I am happy, which is often, my tail goes a mile a minute. Foster mom calls me “thumper” sometimes because my tail will hit the couch/floor so fast that it makes a thumping noise. Foster mom took me to the vet and I had my teeth cleaned, was spayed, and they said I’m in good health. The vet thinks I am about 10 years old, but no one knows for sure.

I really need to find a forever home with someone who will take me hunting in the woods. I don't care if you hunt; you can just hike; but I really love sniffing for rabbits and chasing squirrels into trees. It just makes me so happy and it's what I was trained to do, so it's just part of who I am! I do love sleeping in the bed and sitting on the couch with Foster mom, but I would be very unhappy if I couldn't get out and sniff and run frequently. My perfect home would be in the country with lots of land and woods to run around in. It would be best for me to have a fenced in yard, as I am likely to run after any animal I see or just go exploring on my own. I may be an older girl, but I still have lots of spunk, so I wouldn’t mind being in a home with kids, as long as they’re not too rowdy. I really like my foster sister Penny (we even play together sometimes!), and I would be happiest living with another dog who is like me: laid back and cuddly indoors and a hunter outdoors. I hope my forever family will let me curl up next to them in bed at night and will feed me yummy treats. If you think that I am a good fit for your home, please contact Beagle Buddies right away!
