I am already spayed and up to date with shots.

Ruby's Story...
Ruby is a young hound spaniel mix. She's not a good match for a home with kids under the age of 12 because she likes to jump and will guard her food sometimes although has greatly improved as we've worked with her on this issue. Ruby is very social. She would benefit from training class as she could use some direction with loose lead walking. Ruby would be ok with cats that are not afraid of dogs. She would benefit from a home with structure and routine.

All dogs at our shelter have been started on a vaccination program, de-wormed, treated with Revolution for fleas, spayed/neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee for a dog is $150. If you are a PA resident, you will also be required to purchase a dog license. There are 2 licensing options : annual licenses are $6.50 and are renewable every January. Lifetime licenses are $31.50 and never need to be renewed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ruby, a Honesdale Hound (Unknown Type)/Spaniel (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Spaniel (Unknown Type) for sale in Honesdale, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Spaniel (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Honesdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Honesdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Honesdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Spaniel (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Spaniel (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Honesdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
