Iris's Story...
Hi everyone! I am a new arrival from a new laboratory that has taken the leap of faith and decided to try to release their research beagles for adoption through CBR-East! :) I am a great little beagle, and honestly, despite living my 2 years of life in a laboratory, I was never used for any studies! I have a heart murmur which disqualifies me for studies, but doesn't affect me at all from being a housepet! :) To learn more about heart murmurs, click here. Basically, I have a Grade II (out of VI) heart murmur which is really fairly innocuous. I shouldn't need any medication, either - just some monitoring of the heart murmur. All my bloodwork and exams check out great otherwise! :)

More information will be posted about me as my foster home learns about me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Iris, a Portland Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Portland, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
