Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Babe is a gentle, sweet and loving 11 to 13-year-old Malinois or Shepherd-mix looking for a loving home. Found as a starving stray near the forest preserves in Niles, Illinois, the animal control officer thought she might have been a coyote at first glance – that was from a distance. Up close, Babe is an older fawn-colored dog with worn teeth, and an older dog’s limited hearing and sight. She had no micro-chip, no collar with tags, and no tattoo … and after much searching her original home could not be found. So, she is looking for a new home where someone appreciates the merits of a senior dog. And, despite her age, she can still bolt away quickly when a fence is open… so she’s looking for a home with a securely fenced yard, or someone who can take her on walks. She is a little sensitive about being touched around her neck, but is otherwise cuddly and enjoys leaning against you and being pet. Her back legs shake a bit when she’s standing, but she likes to go on walks and appears to be housebroken. She seemed fine with my dog-friendly foster cat and does not appear to react to other gentle dogs. Babe is up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm-tested and on preventative. She also had bloodwork done and the vet said it looked good for a healthy senior dog. Her adoption fee of $75 will go towards her veterinary care.
