Lucy's Story...
Lucy turned 1 year in May. She is a happy girl who likes to play. Quite petite, all 45 lbs wiggle when she wags.

On April 29, Shana received an email from a breeder in the Red Bluff, CA area. She requested our help in placing approximately 35 sighthound mixes, including 23 puppies one year or younger, and 12 adults.
Because of their longer fur, these dogs were used to living outside. Fortunate for us, because our indoor kennel is full of greyhounds! The sighthound mixes are being housed in the outdoor pens and, thanks to Big Dog Rescue in Penngrove, CA for the loan of some additional outdoor pens, we now have plenty of protected kennels for them.
We will be carefully adopting these sighthound mixes into appropriate homes and transferring others to rescue groups who are prepared to do some socialization and leash work with these dogs. We want to ensure that these dogs have a 'Happily Ever After', even if it takes some time.

For further information about these dogs, please contact Shana at foothillfosters@yahoo.com

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Santa Rosa Retriever (Unknown Type)/Irish Wolfhound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Irish Wolfhound for sale in Santa Rosa, or seeking a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Irish Wolfhound puppy from a breeder in Santa Rosa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Rosa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Rosa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Retriever (Unknown Type)/Irish Wolfhound breeders who help with Retriever (Unknown Type)/Irish Wolfhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Rosa paves the way for another one to be saved.
