Winston is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. He is crate trained and housetrained and is used to going outside in the yard several times a day. He was abandoned by his former owner and faced a very uncertain future before Safe Hounds took him in. He is initially shy with strangers, but warms up very quickly once he's given a chance.
Winston is very fearful of the road and cars. He panics when his foster mom has attempted to walk him on/near the street at his foster home, which is very quiet with hardly any cars. His behavior may be the result of a past traumatic experience that made him fearful. Unfortunately, we don't know why he reacts this way. Being afraid of the road and cars/traffic isn't the worst thing in the world for a dog, but it does mean that his adopter MUST have a fenced yard to exercise him and allow him to take care of business. It is possible that with time and patience he might overcome his fear of the road, but he will need an understanding human willing to go very slowly and work with him.
Winston is truly a sweet dog that would be a wonderful and loyal companion. He just needs the right person to call his own. Like every dog, he deserves a loving, forever home.
IMPORTANT: Safe Hounds Beagle Rescue does not operate a shelter where the public can meet our dogs. All of our Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application and be pre-approved to adopt. Once an applicant is approved, we’ll begin a matching process—the right dog for the right home. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be approved. Please visit our web page: www.safehounds.com to learn more about the adoption process and to download our adoption application.
