My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If there were an organization that certified lap cats, Eliza Doolittle would be their poster kitty.

Eliza Doolittle, born in 2007 or 2008, found the right address when she decided to stop her wandering and post herself at the home of one of our volunteers. Once she knew she was in the right spot, she sat in the front yard and cried and cried to come in. Once inside she wasn’t sure she had made the right choice because of all the whiskers she saw. However, as time has gone on, she has been caught sleeping on the same bed and watching the squirrels from the back of the sofa in the company of other cats. So we know she can live amicably with other cat-friendly felines, but she’s not necessarily looking for a cat companion and could be content as an only cat.

Eliza enjoys being affectionate, so she will need people who have time after work and on weekends to spend with her. She doesn’t care for the picking-up proces but once in your arms, is content to be there. That tells us little children would not be very happy with her. She is, however, a certified lap cat. And once there she expects an overage of pets. If you stop, out comes the gentle "tap, tap" of a soft paw to remind you that you have not finished the job. Because it’s gentle contact attention, a good combing is appreciated as well.

“Liza” is on the small side and a dainty eater. Her size is just right for any lap. She’s not much of a talker and prefers to say everything with her eyes.

Eliza, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been spayed, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Eliza Doolitte, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets. All our animals live with volunteers in their homes until they are matched with the right permanent family. Thank you for considering one of our pets for adoption.
