Mickie's Story...
Mickie is an adorable doxie mix. red and brown. About a year and a half old. Could pass for a purebred. He was picked up as a stray in southern Illinois. We have completely vetted him and now he is ready for is new home. He have started a refresher course in housetraining and he is doing well. He is very mellow and loves to snuggle next to you on the couch or in bed. Sometimes he will even borrow under the covers. Mickie gets along very well if other dogs both big and small and has very little interest in cats. He is so sweet. He would give you kisses all day if you let him. If you are interested in him please email us at helpapoochrescue@comcast.net for an application. His adoption fee is 275.00.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mickie, a Algonquin Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Algonquin, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Algonquin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Algonquin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Algonquin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Algonquin paves the way for another one to be saved.
