Here's what the humans have to say about me:
DOB June 30, 2007. Evian is a stunning girl who was rescued from a high-kill animal shelter. Her foster mom cannot believe that anybody could abandon such a precious angel.
From the moment she looked into Evian's peircing blue eyes and saw the fear in them she knew that Evian desperately needed a place where she could feel safe and secure. Evian is shy girl and lacks confidence. Loud noises and sudden movements terrify her. When she first arrived in her foster home, she spent weeks under her foster moms bed only coming out when the house was quiet. After time, Evian would sneak onto the bed and cuddle beside her foster mom for a few minutes when she thought she was sleeping. She gradually began to accept and give affection and has now blossomed into the sweetest cat her foster mom has known.
She loves to have her silky soft hair brushed, purring louder and louder with each stroke, and giving you kisses as a reward. Today Evian is still shy, but has gained the confidence to explore the rest of her foster home and interact with the other foster cats and dogs. She has even learned to trust the presence of strangers!
Unfortunately for Evian, her sad story does not end when she was rescued from the shelter. During a routine medical examination, the vet discovered that Evian had a fairly significant heart murmur. After some extensive tests by a cardiologist, Evian was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. HCM is a genetic muscluar disease that causes the heart walls to thicken. Unfortunately, there is no cure for cats diagnosed with this condition and the damage is irreversible. As a result, cats with HCM typically pass away suddenly from a cardiac arrhytmia. Evian does not show any outward signs of illness and only requires a pill once a day. The medication is not expensive, but she will need to be on it for the rest of her life.
Evian would love to find a quiet adult only home to spend the rest of her days being pampered and showered with love. Because Evian does need an extra special family that understands that she will not mature into a senior cat, the $150 adoption fee will be waived in lieu of a donation of your choice.
