Butterscotch's Story...
Butterscotch is a 3 year old butterscotch (get it?) Maine Coon male who was adopted from HAHS as a baby. His owners were transferred to California and could not take him with them because they have to stay with relatives who are allergic. Butterscotch is a very sweet laid back boy whose whole world has been turned upside down and consequently wants to hide from the world. Butterscotch used to live with two dogs and another cat. He also used to live with four children but he prefers a home with an older child who will give him love and kisses rather than constantly picked up. He also used to live inside only but they put him outside for 3 days because they wanted to show their house and that scared him even further. However, Butterscotch also has become a lot less shy and is like a big gentle teddy bear who will stay on one's lap and purr for a long time.

He has been shaved because he is supposed to have overgroomed himself and his previous owners thought he was happier shaved. Since Butterscotch is a long hair, he will need patient grooming once his beautiful fur grows out. Once that happens, he will be one handsome guy!

Please contact Judy at judythump@sbcglobal.net or 913.383.1584 to find out more about BUTTERSCOTCH. Butterscotch goes to off-sight adoptions at the Petsmart Store at 115th & Metcalf.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Butterscotch, a Overland Park Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
