My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie is Adopted

Ellie is currently fostered in Mentor Ohio, and her adoption fee/donation is $300

Hi there, my name is Ellie, I am a 5 yr old bichon frise and maltese mix, they call me a malti-chon.
I had a very bad start in life, you see I came from a puppymill, it was awful!!! I did not receive any care at all, I was just used for breeding, every year I had puppies. I didn’t want to have them, but I was forced, it was horrible!!! I lived in a tiny cage, I never had a life, and then one day, I was pulled out of there by a wonderful group of people, they call themselves a rescue, and BOY am I glad they came for me!! I was a mess the day they picked me up!! I was sitting in my own “crud”, I smelled, my hair was so dirty and matted, the people said I really stunk!!!
I was taken right to a veterinarian, I didn’t know anything about them, I had never seen one. Well let me tell you, this person they called the “Vet” fixed me up really well!!! I had HUGE bladder stones, they hurt really bad, I was in so much pain!! Once that was done, they cleaned up my nasty infected ears, and did something they called “spayed” me so I can’t have any more babies. WOW!!! Really??? I don’t have to do that anymore?? WOOHOO!!!! I was also given shots they call vaccines, and they tested my blood, BOY they did a lot to me!!! I thought I was all done, but I heard that I have to go back there again in the near future to get something called a “dental”, you see, my teeth are really bad, so they are going to clean them all up for me!!! I will get everything I need before I go to my forever home, including a microchip.
This is just amazing, being in this thing they call “rescue”, I have been so well taken care of, I am feeling so much better now!!! I am living in a real house now, one with walls, and clean floors, good food, and other fur brothers and fur sisters, its “THE LIFE”. I do still have to get used to being with humans though, you see I get really scared, and run from my foster mom when she wants to pet me or pick me up, but I’m slowly getting better at it!!! Oh, and I forgot to tell you, I get to go outside here, the real outside, with grass and blue skies, a fenced yard, it’s scary at first, but I know I can get used to this!! Once my teeth are all fixed, I am told I will be available for adoption. That means a nice family can adopt me as their very own, I think that sounds really nice!!! I hope I get a really good family, one that will love me as one of their own.
I DO NEED to be in a home with at least one other dog, because of my past life, I have always only known other dogs, so they are my comfort and help me with my confidence. I will need my adopters to be patient with me while I continue the transition from my past life, to being a real dog. I am being taught all about something called “House-training” but I don’t know what that is yet. I need to be in a fenced yard like I am here, that is so I can’t run away if I get spooked, you see I can’t wear a leash yet, I get too scared, and try to pull out of it. I will get there, it’s just going to take time I’m told, But one thing is for sure, I AM WELL ON MY WAY because of this great rescue!!!
I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, micro-chipped, and heartworm negative. OH, and I will come with nice clean teeth!!!!
