My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family. Also we do not allow dogs to be adopted as surprise gifts. Experience has shown us that the adoption is more successful when the recipient is involved in choosing the new dog.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Sammi is a friendly, happy 2 year old airedale/shepherd mix who lost her home due to divorce. She is 60 pounds and is great with kids 6 and older. Sammi is happy, smart, playful and gets along very well with people, but she would prefer being your only pet and she loves having time to run in the fenced yard at her foster home. A doggie door would be just perfect for her. She is not safe with cats and small dogs and she does require a physically fenced yard. Sammi is dependably house trained and doesn't need to be crated. She will do best with a family who is home at least part of the time. Sammi is working on leash manners with her foster family as she really enjoys going for long walks. Sammi is with a 501c3 non profit rescue and her adoption fee is $50.00. She is spayed, heartworm negative and on prevention, is up to date on shots and worming and she has a HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. THESE CRITERIA ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE FOR ALL APPLICANTS. If you do not meet the criteria for this dog, PLEASE do not apply. Due to the volume of emails we receive, we do not answer those in which the applicant doesn’t match the listed criteria.
