My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Lucie, a lab cross, may be 5 or 6 years old with hopefully another 10 years to go. As an abandoned dog, we know nothing about her background. She had puppies not to long ago, that was obvious. Most likely, she had litter after litter all her life. Sold for a hundred bucks or so to whoever could not resist a pup, and these pups, once adults, most likely multiplied again, filling the shelters, adding to the numbers of homeless dogs, joining those euthanized for lack of homes. Building more and more shelters does not help, a stop to breeding would. It is not just puppy mills and back yard breeders; it is all breeders, even the so called reputable ones who are creating the surplus, the homelessness, the suffering, the killing. For every dog born and sold, another one, already sitting in a shelter, will not find a home. Sad reality for souls such as Lucie.
Lucie is a sweet dog. She is house trained; she loves people and ball games. She is not a couch potato and would love to accompany someone on their long walks. She is affectionate and sweet, but her looks command respect, she is a big dog. She is longing for a home.
