My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 07/28/09: Ellie is an adorable 1-1/2 y/o 12# yorkie (or possibly Silky) who spent her short life in a cage being used as a breeder. :( She is currently being fostered Boynton Beach, FL. When she first arrived in her foster home, she used to run in circles and spin -- a behavior that is seen often in caged dogs. She would run around and pace in the house for several hours - causing excitement (and dizziness!) in the other dogs. Ellie has been observing the other doggies in the home playing with toys, and has discovered how much fun it is! She is a typical high-energy puppy, always in constant motion. She is learning how to calm herself and not panic. Ellie has also learned that she likes kisses and cuddles to calm her down - what a smart girlie! She is very gentle and is learning to trust humans again. She didn't know about walking on grass and how much fun it was to run in a yard, but is quickly learning. She stays very close to Foster Mom, but if FM reaches out to her, she will back up - fearful that she will be mistreated or handled roughly. She must eat all by herself because she will back away from food if other dogs are around, so she is fed in a room all by herself with the door closed - and will bark when she is done. Ellie still has a lot of fears to overcome from being so unsocialized, but she is so very gentle and sweet.....and love and patience will soon teach her how wonderful it is to be an adored little companion animal. Ellie can be placed in a home where she is the only dog, or she would be fine in a home with another dog for a companion since she likes to be around other doggies.

ORIGINAL BIO 7/18/2009: Meet Ellie! Ellie is an adorable 1.5 year old 12# female Yorkie who spent her whole short life as a breeder dog. Though her former owner claims she didn't spend "all" her time in the crate, judging by her reaction to humans, one can assume she's spent most of it in one. She is very shy and is afraid to be held. She is also not housebroken. FM will be working with her on this.

Ellie has a big week ahead of her. She has an appointment first thing Monday morning so we can get Ellie her vaccinations, check her for heartworms and intestinal parasites, and get her microchipped. Then, she needs a dental and a spay.

Ellie's life is about to get better in ways she could never have imagined. Humans are now going to dote on her and spoil her like the little princess she is. Her beautiful hair is cut very short (undoubtedly, to keep it easier to maintain for her owner), but she will soon blossom into a happy, beautiful little girl. Most importantly, she will learn to trust that humans are good.
