My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 07/14/2009: Gino is a 9 month old 7# Morkie (Maltese-Yorkie) who was rescued from a puppy mill. Gino is still skittish and timid when meeting new people, but Foster Mom is taking him on daily walks and they visit all the neighbors; he's doing much better as he is now accepting of them and doesn't shy away as much. He does a lot of sniffing and has actually kissed a couple of people, but still stays very close to FM. Gino's housetraining is going really great! He now understands what the wee-wee pad in the house is for, and has used it consistently for the past two nights. Gino is now waiting for FM to take him out and has poo'ed every morning and evening outside - what a good boy! FM's own dog, Elvis, has "shown" Gino how to walk on a leash and now FM can take Gino on leash walks without Elvis and he walks alongside her beautifully - as if he has been doing it all his life! Gino loves playing with Elvis and can catch every toy in his mouth that FM throws, even if she wasn't throwing to him! He is now sleeping on the sofa with the other dogs instead of hiding behind the sofa ready to run - this is a huge accomplishment for such a timid little boy - he is really coming out of his shell - whoo hooo! FM thinks he is truly a wonderful little boy who is beginning to enjoy being a puppy, walking on a leash, meeting people without fear, for the first time in his life.............Gino's perfect home would be one in which he had a companion close to his size and age to play with. PLEASE NOTE: Because of Gino's small size, he can only be adopted into a home with children older than 12 y/o.

UPDATED BIO 6/14/2009: Gino is an 8 mo old 5# Morkie (Maltese-Yorkie) who was rescued from a puppy mill. Gino continues to do well in FM's home. He is learning to trust FM but still fears strangers when they come to the door. He is friendly and sweet - just scared of people he doesn't know. FM is beginning to take him out with her on trips to the store and other errands so that he can have more interactions with strangers. On the other hand, GIno LOVES every dog he meets. He will play play play with everypuppy.

Gino is still working on his housetraining. We are hoping that when Gino moves to a home with less pups, he will catch on more quickly. He is a sweet boy who deserves a home where he can know he will be loved FURever and ever. If you're looking for a special little boy who loves to play and needs love, Gino is your man.

UPDATED BIO 5/9/2009: Gino is an adorable 7 month old 5 lb Morkie (that's a Maltese/Yorkie mix for those of you who don't know!). Here's what he had to say about himself:

Hi Everybody! Gino here. I'm being fostered in Miramar, FL and am looking for a new home; I've been waiting a month now. I sure do hope my FURever family is out there looking for a special guy just like me. Let's see. What can I tell you about me? For starters, I am very cute (did I say that already?). I'm also very sweet. However, I came from a very bad place before UYR rescued me. FM thinks I either had very little human contact or was hurt by someone because I get very skeered of people. Foster Mom loves me so much....I will go lay down to sleep by her side at bedtime. However, if she moves in the middle of the night, I'm outta there! Sometimes I come to her when she calls.... sometimes I run in the other direction. FM says I am going to need a very patient owner who is willing to help me get past my fears of people. I think there's someone out there willing to shower me with lots of love and wait for me to come out of my shell.

I love other dogs. I love to play-play-play with just about anybody or anypuppy who will play with me. I am a "work in progress" in the pottying outside department, but I do know how to use the wee-wee pads and use them almost all of the time. If you think you have room for one more furkid and you can accept a puppy that might not do typical puppy things yet - like want to snuggle and give lots of kisses, then I'm your man! FM said that my new family can help me learn that it's OK to be loved. I'll be FURever grateful..........

UPDATE 04/25/09: Gino's potential adoption didn't go through, so he is still looking for his forever home!

INITIAL BIO 04/02/09: Gino is an adorable maltese-yorkie mix - a morkie! He is estimated to be 6 months old and weighs approximately 5#. Gino came from a very horrible situation where he was not socialized nor was he around humans very much, so he will need to learn to trust humans once again. He gets along great with other dogs, however. Gino just came into UYR today so please watch this space for upcoming information. PLEASE NOTE! Because of Gino's small size, he can only be adopted into an adult only home.
