My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Bangles! I’m about 7.5 months old and a perfect sized pup – about 40 lbs (1/10/2010).

I had a bit of a rough start – my foster Mom thinks I should mention this. I really could care less, but she says I walk funny and that my left eye is squished in - and that people should know this from the start! I tend to hop a lot rather than walk, and when I walk, I stretch my back legs out behind me. But, I get around and enjoy short walks and playing in the yard!
I love to chase balls – even though I usually over shoot them and have to turn around to get them! (I would have trouble with a house with a lot of steps, but I run up the few to get up on the deck out here – lickity split.)

I recently had some x-rays done – apparently I am “structurally” sound - nothing is wrong with my bones and such. My funny walking and squishy face all appear to be neurological in origin, but none of this slows me down in the slightest.

I LOVE to run around in the yard – sometimes just to run, other times I chase birds and squirrels or other foster puppies! When I run, you really can’t see anything wrong with my gait – and I go as fast as the other pups out here. But, I do walk funny – and when I navigate down some of the little hills around here with trees and stuff – I look like a world-class slalom skier!

My foster Mom has a lot of nicknames for me – she says it has something to do with me having a lot of personality! I am just so happy all the time and love attention – though I don’t have to be on your lap – just nearby, so I can come over for some petting and loving from time to time. I like to chew, so I need ample chew toys.

I like to bark to tell people about everything and anything, I don’t bark just to bark – I have reasons to bark – someone coming down the hall/into the house, playtime, and any odd noise/motion that catches my attention. I just like to tell my foster Mom about everything!

I am crate trained and housetrained. I’m leash trained and have started basic obedience training. I am soooooo into treats and food – I have a hard time sitting for a treat – I’d rather jump up and be getting it sooner! I’ve been sleeping in the bedroom lately and I do well throughout the night – but my foster Mom won’t let me on the bed – bummer…

I would do well with a male canine companion and lately, Grady (another foster dog here) and I have been doing really well together. I’d be fine as an only dog, too – ‘cause I like chewing on nylabones and shaking and playing with toys by myself, plus playing a bit of fetch.
I love to go out and about on walks – but I wouldn’t be able to do really long walks – I can do at least a mile – probably close to 2 miles by now.

I’d do best in an adult only home since my neurological stuff can potentially change over time – so far I’ve only been improving and other than the walking funny – I am a typical pup – and I’m actually a rather active pup!

I've been spayed, dewormed, am up to date with vaccinations, and am on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
