My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chantilly is a 7 year old female tricolor smooth collie. She came to rescue through sad circumstances, when her elderly owner had to move to a senior assisted living facility.

Chantilly is a delightful dog--we think the perfect family pet. She is well behaved and quiet. She is housebroken & already adept at the foster home's doggie door. She is playful and gets along well with other dogs. In her foster home, we find that she ignores cats and birds, and is respectful of their ducks and chickens. Tilly gets along very well (as you can see) with the foster family's child. She sleeps with him at night. She is nervous however around young children, and like most of our rescued collies, cannot be placed in a home where young children live or visit regularly. With adults and older children, Tilly is affectionate and seeks out attention & petting.

Tilly walks well on a leash, but she is shy outside the home. We suspect that she was not walked or taken places by her elderly owner. She can be frightened of noises, movement, and other unfamiliar things. Her foster family however is getting her out and about, and providing training to help her adapt to the outdoor world.

Tilly was evaluated by our veterinarian and found to be in good health. Unfortunately, Tilly is obese and will benefit from losing a significant amount of weight. Her foster home has her on a healthy diet & exercise program, and she has already lost 10 lbs since she arrived at the shelter weighing 88 lbs. She should be her 2004 weight of 48 lbs, so her adopters will likely have to continue her weight loss program.

If you are interested in Tilly please fill out an application and e-mail it to: cathy@calcollierescue.org.

NCR places dogs only in northern California. All NCR dogs are altered, health-checked, microchipped and current on rabies vaccinations before being placed in adoptive homes. Tilly is also current on her other vaccinations.
