Lotus's Story...
Lotus is the last of a litter of five 'long-distance' cats. Apparently the litter was born in a horse trailer. When the trailer's owner needed to take a horse to a vet hospital (MANY miles away) he loaded the horse not realizing the kitties were there. They all made the trip (with mom still at home), the horse was unloaded, the trailer closed up and unhitched (so the owner wouldn't have to drag it back and forth) and everyone left. Three days later another client heard the kittens crying weakly in the trailer. Temperatures had been in the mid to upper 80's and the trailer was like an oven. The trailer was opened and attempts were made to contact the owner. They were placed with the rescue and all five survived. When the trailer's owner was finally reached and asked about the kittens, he shrugged and said he didn't want them, he had lot's of cats on the place.
Lotus is extremely affectionate. She has a behavior quirk (with me at least). She likes to nuzzle and 'nurse' my neck, hands and arms.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lotus, a Fayette Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Fayette, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Fayette.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fayette already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fayette breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fayette paves the way for another one to be saved.
