Alex Greyhound's Story...
8-4-09 UPDATE Alex is making a great dog. He is lots of fun, probably the most playful dog at the shelter. He is the first to grab a new toy and loves to play tug-a -war with the other dogs; he LOVES to play in our baby pool. Alex keeps his kennel clean, which means he probably is or can be easily house trained. He loves to walk on leash and does it very gently. We think Alex is just under a year old and weighs about 55 pounds. 3-17-09 Alex's breed is a mystery, but his fine bones and sleek look make us think greyhound. He is a very sweet dog and gets along wonderfully with the other dogs at the shelter. Please save lives by adopting from shelters and rescues and by spaying and neutering your own pets!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Alex Greyhound, a Charleston Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Charleston, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Charleston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Charleston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Charleston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Charleston paves the way for another one to be saved.
