Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We rescued this handsome fella from an Extremely abusive situation about 4 years ago, when he was 3 years old.He is now about 7 years old He was a stallion at the time and because the previous owners were afraid of him, they kept him stalled up and chained down. He had been ridden, but only a few times. When i went to meet him, he was very thin and emaciated and afraid of Everything! So he may never be suitable for riding, but he sure would be a good pasture mate for any Lucky mare!
When i got him out of there, i got him castrated and he learned to trust me over the years. He is with a herd of 4 other mules and 2 other horses, and gets along fine.....but the rest of the herd are very old, some 30years old, and he is just too energetic amongst the old folks. I can 'join up' with him and his ground manners are fine, but i personally have never ridden him. A young man, did ride him several times and he did fine, but he is just still too afraid of folks for me to feel safe on him...so it will take youth and fearlessness! ...and LOTS of patience and ground work..... Raven does have a beautiful Walking horse gait.
I don't think that he wants to do much of anything, but make a pasture look more Beautiful. He has a sweet spot on his forehead, where he will stand endlessly when you rub him. He will come up for treats and grain. Raven needs someone with infinite patience and a kind and gentle spirit and of course, lots of green pastures and a barn. In a Perfect World, i would Love to send him to one of those Fancy Retirement homes where they are blanketed and pampered and can meditate in the pastures for the rest of their days!
I have taken him as far as I can...I AM old and small and not as fearless as i was in my younger horse ridin' days....and I have taken him as far as I can in his rehab..and now he needs someone to take him to the next level of trusting in Humanity again. I know he can become a balanced Horse again~
