My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Ann of Green Gables, or Ann for short. I am the cutest, sweetest little gal you’ll ever meet. I am not shy or bashful, but I’m not a dictator or a meanie either. I get along well with other dogs, and I like folks of all sizes and shapes. I would probably do fine around older children who know how to gently handle a small dog like me. I have a lovely, short, caramel colored coat that will be very easy to keep clean. I even have lighter fur above my eyes that kinda makes me look like I have clown makeup on my face! I am just a little baby who has lots of love and life to give, but I have to get out of here QUICKLY before it’s too late!

- Approximately 3 to 4 months old
- Weighs ~ 5 lbs
- Will be Heartworm tested & Vaccinated prior to placement
- Ann will be spayed before she goes to her furever home.
- Shelter hold is already up.

Ann’s adoption donation fee is only $85.

This low fee covers all her vetting expenses.

Cherokee Shelter animals have only 5 days to find a home or rescue group. The Humane Society of Cherokee County’s volunteers work to save as many animals as possible. The $85 adoption fee includes Rabies and DHPP vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and heartworm test.

We are very rescue friendly and try to make it as pleasant as possible for rescue groups to save Cherokee Shelter animals. Please contact us via email at cherokeeshelter@gmail.com regarding rescue policies and pricing.

Because of the short time we have to place animals, and the lack of a veterinary clinic at the shelter, neither the Humane Society nor Cherokee County can guarantee the temperament or health of any animals made available for adoption. We will never knowingly place a dangerous or sick animal. It is impossible in the shelter environment to reliably test dogs with cats or small children. Sometimes the stressful environment may create fearful responses even with other dogs that would not occur in a normal home setting. All animals are not compatible with all families, and we reserve the right to refuse adoption when we think the placement may endanger either the pet or the family.

All rescued/adopted pets must be picked up the same day as their veterinary services. Otherwise boarding and additional payment arrangements must be made in advance.

The Cherokee County shelter is located in Gaffney, SC just a few minutes off I-85 and only about 20 miles northeast of Spartanburg, SC and about 50 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC.
