Simon's Story...
Simon's story breaks our hearts. We're not sure if he was dumped somewhere or just let go, but he was found with a collar and tags. The shelters must hold dogs with identification for at least 10 days while the owner is found. The warden called the owners day after day, leaving messages at their home. After not receiving a call from them or seeing them at the shelter to pick up Simon, they went to the owner's home. What they found was an empty house; the owners had moved out and discarded their companion.

Although he looks like a puppy, Simon is graying around the muzzle so we're guessing he's around 3-5. He is very sweet and on the small side for a golden. What we know from just transporting him is that he does not like a crate! He scratched at it and barked the entire car trip. While he is recuperating from his neuter, his foster home will be evaluating and assessing his temperament. Check back for more details.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Simon, a Cleveland Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Cleveland, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Cleveland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cleveland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cleveland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cleveland paves the way for another one to be saved.
