Shay - male, neutered, vet checked, vaccinated to date inclu. Rabies, heartworm tested (-), dewormed, tx flea preventative, ~1-2yr, ~20-25lbs, Kooiker (mix?)
Have you ever seen a young fella this elegant looking? We originally thought Shay might be something along the lines of a Papillion/Sheltie type mix but have since been notified that he is very, very likely a Kooiker. This is a popular Spaniel breed in the UK that is not well known or very popular in Canada or the US. Shay looks like and displays all the traits this breed is known for, read up on them here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kooikerhondje . Shay is a handsome boy that is good with other dogs, cats and respectful children of any age. He is house trained and crate trained but likely fine when given free roam of his home once he is comfortable. Shay also knows his basic commands – sit, stay, lie down, off, no… and walks nicely on a leash but could use a little more practice. Shay is very smart, willing and eager to learn more. He would be great for further obedience training or agility if his new family is interested. Shay loves to learn and is willing to try whatever “his person” asks. Shay likes a daily walk and should be brushed frequently to keep his silky coat free to tangles. This boys enjoys a good walk each day and would probably make a good jogging partner if you are a jogger. Shay is sure to get compliments when you walk him down the street, he has the pretty black tipped “earrings” the Kooiker breed is known for and his coat is very soft and silky. Shay would likely manage in an apartment if walked enough but he would prefer a house with a fenced yard to romp in.
