Stretchy's Story...
HI My name is Stretchy. I was brought to the Northumberland Humane Society on April 1/05, because my owners were having a new baby. I am very friendly with people but sometimes I get a little grouchy when I am being held or carried. I don't mind the other cats at the Humane Society and I lived with a dog in my previous home but I haven't met any here yet. Sometimes when there is too much excitment at the society I get a little scared and hide. If you would like to come to the society and give me a visit just give the the staff a call and let them know your'e coming!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stretchy, a Port Hope Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Port Hope, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Port Hope.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Hope already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Hope breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Hope paves the way for another one to be saved.
