Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Jack and here his horrid tale. Jack is a sweet, energetic, loving and happy 3 year old yellow field lab. From the time he was a puppy, Jack lived with a family with 3 human children and another dog. Life was ok. Then, the family moved from their home to a small 2 bedroom apartment. Unneutered and typical lab, Jack exhibited some understandable behavior; he chewed shoes, he had pent up energy and he displayed his zest for life. Instead of being responsible and neutering Jack, training him or finding a better home for him, the family decided to take him to the country and "dump" him, telling themselves that "he is such a good dog, someone in this rich neighborhood will take him in"
When I learned of Jack's fate, my heart sank. I KNOW what is the most likely outcome from this situation.
I begged the person to go back to where they had dumped Jack and try to find him, telling them Jack could come live with me.
Well, they went back to the location where Jack was released and searched, but no Jack. Finally a neighbor came out and told them, yes someone did take Jack....Animal Control. He was picked up and brought to the high kill facility. Luckily, Jack's former human decided finally to do the right thing for Jack, they went to Animal Control to get Jack. They arrived just in time..Jack was scheduled to be killed the next day.
So the tail of Jack now has a bright future. He lives in a home with other dogs where we are working on his socialization (he is great with other dogs, just doesn't know all the play etiquette yet) he will be neutered and brought up to date on rabies and vaccinations, get on heartworm prevention and begin some basic training.
Jack is a typical young lab. He is head strong, but anxious for guidance and to learn. He is looking consistency and expectations. He is anxious to please and is quick to pick up on redirection. Jack is attentive, loving and very loyal.
Jack is a big boy. He weighs at least 110, maybe more. Because of his size, I believe he will be most successful in a home with children over 12.
