My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE--You can now meet Cheesey in person at the Muncie PetSmart. Cheesey is a beautiful cat who is more than ready to find her new forever home. She has an approximate date of birth of September 2004. She was found and brought to us with suspected burns on her belly. It turned out to not be burns but a case of severe flea allergies. She was so uncomfortable with flea bites, that she chewed, scratched and self-mutilated, resulting in patches of hair loss and red, bloody, and irritated skin lesions. She was treated and her skin has cleared up and most of her hair is already grown back. The most common treatment for this type of inflammation is using an injection of Depo-Medrol, which is a steroid. We did find out that she has a sensitivity to steroids treatments. This treatment caused her to drink, eat, and urinate in very large quantities. These symptoms made us concerned that she may be diabetic. We watched her and retested her blood sugar about 4 weeks after her treatment. It takes about that long for the steroidal effect to wear off. It has been determined that she is NOT diabetic!! Her eating, drinking and urination amounts have all returned to a "normal" amount. The vet recommended that Cheesey's new owners be aware of this sensitivity so that if her new vet ever thought a steroid treatment for any future situation would be helpful, that vet would use a very low dose and monitor Cheesey's reaction carefully. Cheesey is very sweet and does like to play with toys. She is a little unsure of and intimidated by other cats at first but she does tolerate them. She would probably do best with only one other cat or even as the only cat. She would adjust to gentle children or a gentle dog. Her favorite thing to do is to lay on your chest, snuggle under your chin, purring and "making biscuits". Won't you let this "cheesey" girl melt your heart?
