2011 Pointer, Setter, Puppy and Mutts Rule Fundraising Calendars are in!!
All of the dogs and puppies featured in these calendars would have been euthanized in shelters across the Mid-West had IBR not stepped in to save them. Your support can really make a difference!!

UPDATE 12-21-10>/b> Another year in foster care--knowing about unconditional love!! Duckie is now heartworm negative, and almost a 12 months survivor of spleen cancer. In November, she also had some of the nasty mammary tumors removed to make her feel more comfortable. She is a blessing to us and we welcome any donations to help with her care.

UPDATE 10-23-09 How about some good news for a change :). After a 7 month battle to fight the heartworm infestation, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia and Rocky Mountain spotted fever--Duckie is finally making some progress! So far the Lyme disease is resolved and the antibodies for he other 2 tick borne illnesses have finally dropped. Duckie is still showing a positive antigen level for heartworm disease-but even at the 6 month mark--considering all the other things she is fighting --that will eventually go negative. We are going to treat her 2 more months and will plan her mastectomy surgery in early 2010.

What a little fighter this dog is. Baby steps...baby steps...

UPDATE 06-05-09 Duckie was successfully treated for heartworm disease about 6 weeks ago. She has also been on doxycycline (anti-biotic) for the last 3 months since she was also infected with Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia AND Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Now that we have 4 issues under control-we are hopeful she will be ready for her mastectomy in July. Any donations towards her care would be most appreciated. She sure is a little fighter!!!

Tammy Duckworth "Duckie" is our latest Setter needing some TLC in a big way. She was found as a stray in Missouri and had a terrible leg injury (most likely from being hit by a car) and it was surgically removed. It was also discovered that she also needs to be treated for heartworm disease. Like the Illinois Veteran she is named after- Duckie will have to be brave and strong to get her ready for her new role- being a spoiled rotten pet.

Please help us reach our fundraising goal so we can help Tammy get through her mastectomy and help many more dogs in our program!

Due to the fact that these dogs have come from shelters or abuse or neglect situations, and unless we have tested these dogs on upland birds and feel they are confident and ready to work as a hunter with families where they will be trained with kindness and patience, we will only adopt to pet homes.

All adoptions include vaccinations, deworming, microchips, spaying or neutering, collar, leash and an information adoption packet. All IBR dogs are crate trained, housebroken, socialized with other dogs and loved on by their human foster parents. Adoption fees are used to cover vetting expenses and special need dogs' vetting care. Our adoption guidelines also require non-smoking homes and safe fenced in yards.

Make a donation or sponsor a homeless dog. Illinois Birddog Rescue has always prided itself in not turning away any sick and injured dogs; animals that most shelters would have euthanized. We have saved many dogs with heartworm, tick borne illnesses, broken legs, missing legs, blind dogs, a new deaf puppy, dogs suffering from Parvo and especially senior dogs that may need expensive health care to help them get ready for adoption. In February of 2006, in one weekend, we brought in 20+ dogs from the Boat Mountain Tragedy, and that depleted our emergency funds. Please help us continue to help those birddogs that have suffered terrible abuse and suffering by making an online donation here:

Your donation will not go unnoticed. In addition to helping save lives, when you donate your name will be added to the Illinois Birddog Rescue Donations and Rescue Sponsor List.
