My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How ever do we love Rosie?? Let us count the ways!! Elegant yet athletic...well mannered, yet full of life and character...bright, cheerful, well-adjusted, gentle and loving...this girl is a dream come true!!

Delightful Rosie is a glass-half-full kind of gal, and her optimistic attitude is reflected in everything she does. A lover of humans and dogs alike, Rosie has never known a stranger, is as sweet as can be, and is even wonderfully gentle with children of all ages. She's very playful with other dogs, too, and even the most unplayful types find it hard to resist her winning ways!! So far, toys do not interest Rosie, though she does love her rawhide bones, and she is starting to show some interest in fetching. She hasn't shown any herding instinct, yet she will happily play chasing games with you all day long and is very clever, outmaneuvering anyone who tries to outsmart her! She also loves outdoor adventures. Rosie has a moderate to moderate-high energy level.  She needs a good walk/run/hike at least once a day, some play time outside, and then enjoys some down time with her family...at the end of the day Rosie loves to chill and put her head in your lap and look up at you with her big brown eyes...which really melts your heart!

Rosie came to WBCR from an overcrowded Utah shelter. She's about 3 or 4 years old, and a Border Collie or maybe Border mixed with a little Aussie...hard to say. She is an absolutely beautiful, traditionally marked girl with a rough coat and docked tail. She's also a strikingly elegant mover - anyone who loves dressage horses will love the way this girl covers ground. She floats when she moves! She is also an incredible athlete, can easily jump 3 - 4 feet from a standstill, and can outrun and outlast almost any dog in both speed and endurance.

Rosie came into the shelter as a stray, so her past is unknown. However, she has adapted to family life with hardly a blink! She's housetrained, cratetrained, is learning basic obedience...while she doesn’t necessarily see the point of it, she is willing to learn, and is now familiar with the basics. She is a very responsive girl and is good both on leash and off, as her recall is great. Rosie seems to have no issues or undesirable habits and is a happy-go-lucky girl, unfazed by hustle and bustle or new things. She is also good with cats, though if they run she is not above a good chase...if she catches up to the cat she stops dead in her tracks and doesn’t know what to do! She is easily called off if the cat is not enjoying the game. In fact, she seems to enjoy playing around with the cats in her foster home, as she is often ambushed by them and EVERY time it happens she feigns great fear and terror...however, the very next minute she is egging the cats on to do it again!

A sweeter, more well-rounded, agreeable and delightful Border Collie would be hard to find. To know her is to love her, and whoever scores this endearing girl will be rewarded with an extraordinary canine companion. Rosie is spayed and fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Salt Lake City, UT.
