My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 12/07/09: TESSI is an adorable 5 y/o 5# yorkie girlie who has had a neglectful past. She was a little chubby when she came into UYR - possibly because she may have recently had puppies. But she has slimmed down to a petite 5# which is a healthy weight for her. When she came into UYR, she was fearful and timid and non-trusting of humans, but she has come a long way in her foster home. She enjoys the companionship of her foster sister, but doesn't initiate play yet. Her favorite activity is sitting with her Foster Dad in his recliner and having him dote on her - she is a real litle cuddler. Tessi is a very, very sweet and beautiful little girlie who is doing remarkably well after living life as a backyard breeder until she came into UYR. She is ready for her forever home - could that be your's? Tessi would love to have a new home for Christmas! Check back later in the week for an update pix of little Tessi.

UPDATED BIO 09/09/09: TESSI is an adorable 5 y/o 7.2# yorkie who has had a very neglectful past, which left her fearful and timid and non-trusting of humans. Her former owner(s) failed to socialize her and treat her like the little princess she deserves to be.

Tessi wanted everybody to know how she's doing so she sent the below message to her 'fans'...............

Tessi here. I've been here in my foster home for about 2 weeks now and I love, love, LOVE it here (well, except for that other person that lives here - you know, the one Foster Mom says is her grandson). He stays upstairs most of the time, but when he comes down, I bark and bark at him. Once he learns that I'm a little princess, I will stop barking at him so much. Anyway, I've been a really good girl; the first night here, I slept in this strange-looking thing that had a door and towels in it - it was in the room where they keep the other dog's carrots. FM put up this contraption that expands and contracts so I could wander around in "my" room without going into the rest of the house. I was so good that I even used the wee-wee pad (boy, that impressed my people!). Sooooooooo, the next night they left the expandable thing where I could go anywhere I wanted....boy, was that a treat!!! Anyway, I liked the freedom to walk around so much that I walked along the wall all the way through the downstairs. Right now, that's my favorite thing to do.

My Foster Dad stays home with me and the other fur-kid who lives here. After FM goes to work, we all get in FD's big ole' recliner and take a nap. The other fur-kid doesn't mind sharing FD's lap at all. When I first got here, all she did was sniff me - a lot! I finally figured out it was her way of getting to know me so now I sniff her back - hee, hee! They finally figured out that I was a princess and put down this really comfy pink bed next to FD's chair and that's where I sleep - well, you know, if I'm not sleeping in his lap!

've even started putting my front paws on FM's leg so she would know it was all right to pet me. She was so excited that I did it again - you know, it really doesn't take much to make your people happy, huh? Anyway, I still have a hard time letting people pick me up, but I can't remember why. Maybe I'll soon forget to be afraid. Oh, yeah, I finally know my name - FD calls me "Miss Tessie" and FM calls me "Tess". Don't tell FM, but my favorite is FD.....he can't even go into the bathroom without me. Oh, oh, wait a minit - FM says that might be too much information to share.....

I'm eating a whole lot better now. FD puts my food on a small plate and I can eat it all by myself. The other fur-kid is named Cali, and she gets a treat called carrots. She brings me one everytime she gets one. At first I didn't know what to do with it, but I finally figured out how to get it in the back of my mouth and chew it with what teeth I have left. I sure do like them!

I just wanted to thank UYR for rescuing me and finding me a place to stay until I find my forever home. PLEASE NOTE: Due to her small size, Tessi cannot be adopted into a home with children under the age of 12 y/o.

INITIAL BIO 08/18/09: MEET TESSI! She is an adorable 5 y/o 7.2# yorkie who has had a very neglectful past, which has left little Tessi fearful and timid and non-trusting of humans. Her former owner(s) must have failed to socialize her and treat her like the little princess she deserves to be. PLEASE NOTE! Because of her size, Tessi cannot be adopted into a home with children under the age of 12 y/o. Watch for updates on little Tessi as we get to know her better.
