Bear's Story...
This is big friendly Bear. He is currently in foster care, recovering from heartworm treatment, which he came through with flying colors. Bear is an energetic boy just over a year old and weighs 47 pounds. He lived his whole life always chained to a tree until he was rescued by someone who drove by him every day on her way to work. She stopped and offered to buy Bear so he could be placed in a home where he would have a chance to live life off of a chain, getting the attention he craved and deserved. Bear was so happy to finally be free from the chain that he immediately bounced and played and smiled. These pictures were taken right after he was rescued (and before bath!). Bear likes to play with other dogs and swim. He has learned to sit. He is very enthusiastic when he greets new people and his foster home is working on this with him. Bear can be aggressive toward other dogs when it comes to food and water, probably because he was on the chain with other dogs running around getting into his food/water.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bear, a Murphysboro Collie/Chow Chow dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie/Chow Chow for sale in Murphysboro, or seeking a Collie/Chow Chow dog from a breeder in Murphysboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Murphysboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Murphysboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie/Chow Chow breeders who help with Collie/Chow Chow rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Murphysboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
