We prefer emails as our method of corresponding. We get many phone calls each day (about animals that need help and families who want to adopt). We simply cannot keep up with our calls. It is much easier for us to respond to emails when we have free time (often these are hours where most people are asleep). If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please fill out an application. We promise to get back to you. Thank you so much for understanding.
Update: Sept. 2016. Trixie is 8 years old now. She is still waiting for her forever family to find her. She is a medium size dog. She loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She is house trained so is an indoor only dog, but she loves to spend time outside when the weather is nice. She is crate trained too.
Trixie now knows how to sit, walks good on a leash and loves to take walks. Once she gets to know you, she will protect you and be a friend for life. She can jump/climb a chain link fence, so her new home needs to have a secure 6 ft wood fence.
Her adoption fee is $50.
November 2008: Trixie was surrendered to Animal Control, only to be attacked by a bigger dog. We just happened to be there taking pictures and saw that she was bleeding pretty bad, so we had to take her out of there and get her to the vet.
All of our pets are fostered in family homes. please read our guidelines carefully. If the animal is listed on our site, it is still available. We will update our listings as soon as the animal has found a home.
The first step in adopting one of our pets is filling out an adoption application at www.PAWFirst.com
After your application is approved, we will schedule an appointment for you to meet the pet.
Please understand that we do not ship our pets. You will need to personally come to meet/pickup the pet.
*Putting Animal Welfare First*PAW First Rescue is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma. We consist of a group of volunteers who assists the local Animal Control and other sources to minimize the euthanasia rate in our community by finding homes for abandoned and unwanted animals.
Pets For Life Rescue operates solely on donations and help from volunteers. Our adoption fee, helps cover the medical care for the animal. All animals are spayed/neutered when they reach sexual maturity, current on vaccinations, treated for worms, fleas, ear mites and any other medical need the animal might have.
Our Adoption Process...
First, an application must be filled out completely and approved. Since we are a group of foster homes and do not have a facility, we make appointments for meeting with prospective adopters.
When pets are too young for spay/neuter, there is a refundable deposit that is required by the State of Oklahoma. After the pet is altered, send a copy of the vet receipt and we will mail the deposit to you.
If you are approved but are unable to pick up your new pet for more than a couple of days, you will have to pay a nonrefundable deposit of half the adoption fee. When you pick up the pet, that will be applied to the adoption fee. IF you do not show up at the specified date, the deposit will be kept and the pet adopted to the next approved applicant.
When paying an adoption fee, hold deposit, or spay/neuter deposit, please have cash, money order or use PayPal. You do not need an account with PayPal to pay that way, we can send a request for money. Send to: PetsForLifeRescue@yahoo.com
